Resumo

O cisto paradental (CP) ocorre próximo à margem cervical lateral de uma raiz dental, como consequência de um processo inflamatório oriundo de uma bolsa periodontal. Os autores revisam a literatura e descrevem o caso de uma paciente que apresentou um CP envolvendo um terceiro molar inferior parcialmente erupcionado. Embora raramente possa envolver os tecidos orais, o médico dentista deve reconhecer as manifestações clínicas e radiográficas do CP, para colaborar no seu diagnóstico precoce e também no seu tratamento.

Abstract

The paradental cyst (PC) occuring near the cervical margin of the lateral aspect of the root as a consequence of an inflammatory process in a periodontal pocket. The authors review the literature and describe the case of a patient with PC involving a partially erupted third mandibular molar vital tooth. Although this disease rarely affects oral tissues, dentists must recognize its clinical and radiographic manifestations to help in early diagnosis and in the treatment.
